Hydrogen’s next chapter is being written now.
On National Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Day, the Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition is focused not only on celebrating the promise of hydrogen, but on advancing the policies needed to build a competitive U.S. hydrogen economy.
Throughout 2026, CHFC and its members have been active voices in the effort to maintain federal support for clean hydrogen and the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs. That engagement comes at an important moment–Congress has continued to demonstrate support for the Hubs, while the Administration has reengaged with many of the projects as they move forward.
But the next decisions will be just as consequential.
Under current law, facilities must begin construction by the end of 2027 to qualify for the Section 45V clean hydrogen production tax credit. CHFC is already working on the next policy challenge: engaging Capitol Hill and building support for extending that timeline to provide the certainty needed for projects, investment, infrastructure, and markets to develop.
Hydrogen can serve as a fuel, feedstock, and energy carrier across multiple sectors, supporting American manufacturing, energy security, economic growth, and skilled jobs.
The opportunity is significant. So is the work ahead.
CHFC will continue bringing industry voices together and advocating for durable, practical policies that enable the U.S. hydrogen industry to compete, invest, and grow.
Happy National Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Day.
